The Sports Bursary Programme is run in conjunction with Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow City Council, Glasgow University and Strathclyde University.

The Aim

The Sports Bursary Programme has been designed to assist the university's most talented/promising athletes in developing their sporting potential while studying at Glasgow Caledonian.

Who is eligible?

Recipients must be fully matriculated students registered on a course provided by Glasgow Caledonian University. This might include students on jointly operated courses. Applicants must have reached or demonstrated a particular level of standard to be considered for the programme.

What the Sports Bursary can offer

The Sports Bursary Programme is not wholly concerned with offering financial assistance to selected student although this may form and integral part of the programme. Its intention is to develop a balanced programme offering the following:

  • Free access to Glasgow Caledonian University, Glasgow University, Strathclyde University and Glasgow City Council operated facilities
  • Opportunity to meet others who are in similar circumstances i.e. competing at a high level in sport while attending further education
  • Exercise, health and nutrition support
  • Financial assistance for the costs involved in sports training and competition
  • The opportunity to use knowledge and expertise to encourage participation in sport by other students
  • Access to high level sports coaching and monitoring

Applications for the Sports Bursary Programme are available early September, any student who is unsuccessful one year can reapply the next year.
