As well as supporting you through your time here, we also look for students to get involved through the welfare department. Our volunteer programme is a great way to get involved with the Students' Association, to meet new people and develop your skills. Our volunteers organise and participate in student campaigns (see below for more details). There is no experience needed and we do provide training sessions, which are led by professionals in the chosen campaign area, and are organised in a way to ensure students feel equipped to help out. Being a Welfare Volunteer automatically qualifies you for the Student Leader's Programme This programme provides you with skills and knowledge which you can apply throughout university life and gives your cv some extra prestige! On completion of the programme you will receive a certificate recognising your achievements and you will also have the opportunity to be nominated for the Glasgow Caledonian Student of the Year Award - presented at the Student Leaders Ball. Visit the Student Leaders webpage for more information. Below is a copy of the Welfare Volunteering training programme for 2009/2010 Sessions are on Tuesdays from 5pm, and usually last for two hours. For more information please see the Welfare Volunteering Handbook -Welfare Volunteering is now full.
